These (budget) Kinetic X4 breathable waist waders are still going strong
Back in April I said I would report back on how these £99.99 Kinetic X4 breathable waist waders (BWWs) are doing - that blog post is here. They have been getting a pretty good hammering my end for a couple of months now and they haven’t failed yet. They will fail eventually because all waders do - however much you spend on them I might add - but a couple of months in and for the money I reckon they are pretty bloody good…………..
You might notice in the estuary fishing photos here that I am kneeling down a lot of the time. Whether my profile is lessened when fishing like this is something that only the bass could answer, but I find it a logical and comfortable way to fish when I need to be doing things more subtly. If you know anything about breathable type waders then you will understand that the material they are made from is not usually very bombproof, but these things ain’t leaking yet. They will at some point as I said earlier, but all waders end up leaking eventually, and I feel far better if they have cost me £99.99 than way north of however much you want to spend.
For sure I still wear regular breathable chest waders for a lot of my open coast fishing, but when I deem it applicable I am perfectly happy with waist waders and they are so easy to move around in. I can’t recall turning to chest waders for a good while now when I’m doing the estuary stuff. I am not remotely new to waist waders, but I am newish to giving proper time to a “budget” pair like these Kinetic X4 ones. Combined with those very good Rock Grippa wading boots I reviewed the other day, I reckon it’s a really good combination which covers a lot of my fishing.
The heavier duty Kinetic X5 waist waders feel more bombproof, but I find these cheaper X4 ones somewhat easier and lighter to move around in. Make sure you get a simple belt like this one here to secure these things around your waist and I can’t really see how you can go wrong for the money. As and when these things fail I will order a new pair straightaway…………….
