Anybody else looking forward to the return of some bouncy open coast conditions?

Don’t get me wrong because I will take this amazing weather for as long as we can have it, but lure fishing for bass really started for me with the open coast stuff and I have a particular love for it. I don’t have any time for any bass fishing “snobbery” where one angler might say that an open coast bass is worth more than an estuary bass and other such unhelpful crap, but I do really enjoy those bouncy open coast days where you can literally feel the excitement coursing through your body almost in time with the water crashing around………….

Damn right I love my estuary fishing, but to me it’s a different kind of excitement. More measured. More of a delicious build up to what you hope will be one of those unmissable hits when the jolt is so pronounced and so sharp that you can’t help giggling because it feels so damn good. I love how bumping stuff in a fast run of estuary current feels so different to hanging back from the water’s edge to try and deftly present something in and around the bladderwrack. Same amazing species being chased, but very different ways of doing it.

And when you’ve got one of those bouncy conditions, fishing going off open coast sessions, it feels to me like I am almost chasing a completely different fish. Everything feels different. More wild, more unpredictable, a different kind of excitement. Same fish though. How amazing are bass? I’m not going to get into global warming stuff and so on, but things are changing and I wonder where we might be with this one single species of fish another few years down the line. You all have a good weekend, there is no complaining from me about this incredible summer we are having - but pretty please could we get some bouncy conditions sometime soon if at all possible? I’ve got a bunch of stuff that needs proper testing for starters………………
