For a long time I was obsessed with the one lure rod to do it all for me, but I require a bit more these days (yep, this weather isn’t helping!)
I am really starting to like this Berkley X9 braid, but the labelling is so confusing it can easily put you off using it
Sometimes the conditions seem to be so perfect that I am left completely confused when I blank!
It continues to fry my brain how much more water there is to check out
I find the “connection” to a lure rod more involving than I used to find the connection to a beachcaster
Tried and failed to catch a bass before Storm Goretti came in, hope you’re all okay
Happy New Year, nearly back home after an amazing trip, seriously itching to go fishing!
Please consider donating to “Achieving an excellent bass fishery”, we are all invested here
When nearly everything is perfect but you’ve got a little niggle……
Gear of the Year 2025 (10% off everything on this list at Veals Mail Order until midnight on 14.12.2025)

Is there something about a pink coloured lure in bright and bouncy conditions?
Give me that shorter swell period any day of the week for the open coast
So easy to spend your time blasting lures to the horizon when in fact the fish were in the gutter almost beneath my feet
Favorite Skyline '25 862M 8'6'' 8-24g and 862ML 8'6'' 5-18g lure rods review - around £270 (but there is 15% off everything at Veals Mail Order for a few days!)
So interested to see what might happen this winter……….
With how thin many braids are these days, is there much advantage to going lighter/thinner for the more finesse stuff? (frigging labelling!)
Can or does a rattle in a soft plastic produce more bass? Previous sneaky behaviour stuff comes to light!
Awful conditions, but my mate got his first bass on a creature bait, lovely fish as well
Fishing like this makes me so happy!
